This is an original painting entitled "Shooting Star" by artist Randy Souders. It features an imaginary, fairytale villa at dusk. A shooting star can be seen blazing across the evening sky. A narrow road winds up to this villa precariously situated on the edge of a cliff.

This painting literally seems to glow from within. This laborious process involves the application of countless layers of transparent paint on a bright white surface. The result is that light penetrates deep below the surface and is reflected back creating a luminous quality. Mr. Souders is regarded as an expert in this classic, "old master" glazing process.

This painting was created on wood panel (Masonite). Artists have painted on wood surfaces for centuries.. in fact, Leonardo DaVinci's "Mona Lisa" is on wood.
